Mel Gontar Scouting to me is a way of life because I have been involved for the last 22 years. It's like having another family to share the outdoors with. I have had some unbelievable opportunities with Scouting, I went to El Salvador to build houses and I was lucky enough to go to Thailand for the Jamboree. There is nothing I love more than giving as much as I can whether it be to someone in my own backyard or some wonderful people and children in Namibia. I look forward to this adventure and can not wait to see the smiles I know are in Namibia.

Hey, I'm Nathan, I've been in scouting since i was around 6, i started in cubs and went up. The thing i would have to say is may favourite thing about scouting is camping, it's the best thing ever, and this project is like a 6 week camp so I'm in heaven. I'm apart of 2nd westmount ventures, in case you were wondering, best group ever. This project to me is both beneficial to the people of Namibia but also to all of our group, i think it will change us all into stronger people. I can't wait!

Hi my name is Kendra Girdwood and I am a current Scout leader of 2nd Westmount and a Rover with St. Andrews. I have been in Scouting as long as I can remember in Chalk River Ontario and now here in Montréal. I absolutely love it!
I have done everything from camping to going to England to the 21st World Jamboree and now I have this awesome opportunity to go to Namibia Africa! This trip will be a great experience as well as a life changing one.

I have been involved in scouting for approximately 17 years now in the Hudson area. This is my first opportunity to work on a service project and I’m looking forward to the life changing experience. Not only will it bring our scouting group closer together but it will help many young Africans with their everyday life challenges.

J'ai été impliqué dans le scoutisme depuis que j'ai 7 ans, je suis maintenant aventurière et animatrice scout dans le groupe First Saint John's-Duvernay, à Laval. Je trouve que ce voyage en Afrique est une opportunité unique et je suis très heureuse d'avoir la chance d'y aller. Ce projet nous permettra de rencontrer de nouvelles personnes, de connaître d'autres cultures, de voir autre choses que notre chez-nous et d'aider une communauté.

Scouting? That's a verb? This is how much i knew about scouting before i started working at TSR. Next thing you know, it's been 5 years im working there, 2003-2007, and I have done various jobs and learned numerous skills such as maintenance, instructing, as well as being the program director for the last two years. I am now also a scout leader in laval with Sophie Poirier as part of 1st St. John's since september 2006. Over the years, I have learned that quite the effort is involved relating to the improvement of quality of life around the world. However, every step we take is yet another achievement to add toward this process. This is our chance to build one more step closer to the goal, and this is why i am involved. Africa here i come ;)
