Jessica Mackay I've been involved in scouting since I was 10 years old. I am now a beaver leader for Baie D'Urfe and a Rover in Hudson. I have also been a lifeguard at Tamaracouta Scout Reserve for the past five summers. I am exicted to go to Namibia because it's a great oppertunity to learn a lot about Africa and hopefully our project will make a difference in the health of many young africans.

Hey all!
I’ve been involved in scouting for as long as I can remember, most recently as a leader with 2nd Westmount, a Rover with St. Andrews as well as the youth rep for the stony point area. Scouting has been a huge part of my life and I think its great that I have the opportunity to go on a trip like this where we can help others as well as go on an amazing journey that wont soon be forgotten.

I joined scouts as a third year Cub through “Bring a Friend”. That first night was so much fun that I just couldn’t not come again. As I progressed through Scouting I became more and more involved in various projects until the day I was told I had the potential to go to Namibia to help people in need. What an opportunity. I jumped right onto this project and I'm having a blast.

I Have been in the scouting movement since I have been in beavers. I am also a venturer advisor. I have been to 3 Canadian jamborees, 2 as a participate and the third to volunteer my time as security. I've wanted to go on a trip like this since I can remember. I have help send other people on these trips and never had an opportunity like this. It will be a good life experience for everyone on this project.

Since being a beaver and helping fundraise for past trips, I've always had it in mind to go on one my self...this is my chance with the namibia trip. The experience of going on this trip will be a once in a lifetime oppourtunity and experience. When I get to namibia I am going to put 100% of my self in to everything I do and hope that I will make a difference in many namibian lives.

I have been involved with the Scouting movement for 19 years. I’ve had a great time doing everything from camping, fundraising to service as a beaver leader and in the community. I have attended two Canadian Jamborees, a World Jamboree in Thailand and a service project in El Salvador. It has been a long time goal of mine to go spend time in Africa and I’m sure it will be an experience of a life time.
